Reality Check Evaluation
Year 12 Short Film

For our 3 minute short movie, we decided to take inspiration from the horror genre and have a variety of shots showcasing the protagonist being followed by a hooded figure. Using eerie non-diegetic sound and a cool blue filter in the editing stage to add an isolated feeling to the film, I believe we have succeeded in creating a horror short film with all the elements necessary.

Personally, I think that we used a variety of camera angles and met exactly what was required. The music was a powerful part of the creation as it adds the haunting atmosphere that was not entirely captured during the filming stages. However, the sounds and audio that we collected (From the movie ’10 Cloverfield Lane’) were a perfect fit to what we had filmed and helped the audience to realise it was a horror creation.

On the other hand, certain shots could have been cut even shorter as the final film ended up at around 3 and a half minutes long. Some lasted too long (POV shots towards the end of the movie) and reducing the time on them would have added more interest to the creation and remove boredom from the viewer.
